"Na Var's Marriage" is mainly based on a custom in Lahu nationality about the Five Jiao put in the betrothal gifts which means "sex before marriage" of the couple. On a grounding of soulfulness, the film shows the audience a glimpse of the unadorned lifestyles of minorities in Yunnan Province with regional landscape and local language by telling a story mainly about that a Lahu girl Na Var proposed to his boyfriend Cad Yawl, a Lahu boy, but their marriage was objected by the boy's respected granny. After the girl's untiring efforts, Na Var finally wins granny's trust and agreement to the combination of this young couple.
